If you’re planning a Victorian-themed tea party, you’ll want to make sure your invitations are just as chic as the rest of your event. Check out our samples of Victorian tea party invitation wording to get started.

A Victorian tea party is elegant as well as fun. And, tea parties are ideal not only for casual gatherings among friends but in honor of birthdays, new arrivals, weddings, retirements, and graduations.
If you are planning a tea party, these ideas and sample wordings will make your invitations as special as the event.
VICTORIAN THEMES
Your invitations, like your tea table, should be decorated with traditional Victorian themes. Motifs that lend themselves to tea party invitations include:
- Victorian porcelain tea sets
- Victorian accessories, for example large feathered hats
- Roses, pansies, hollyhocks, or violets
Less traditional motifs that may also be used are:
- Candles or gas lamps
- Food and beverage items, for example, pastries, finger sandwiches, macaroons, trifles, punch
- A carriage
TEA PARTY INVITATIONS
Your invitations may be hand-written, on pretty note cards or stationary, or maybe computer-printed. Whatever method you use to create them, ensure the invitations include polite wording asking the guest to tea, all of the critical information regarding the time, date, and location of the party, information about the reason for the gathering (if there is a special occasion, such as a birthday or shower) and contact information for the guest to respond to the host.

CHILDRENS TEA PARTY INVITATIONS
Children’s tea parties offer the opportunity for dress-up and play-acting, as well as delicious food, although generally lemonade or punch is served in place of tea. Consider providing costumes, such as large Victorian hats for each guest to wear.
While any of the adult Victorian motifs may be used, some additional themes lend themselves nicely for a children’s tea party:
- Teddy bears
- Porcelain dolls
- Dolls or stuffed toys having tea
Consider cutting the invitation into the shape of one of the motifs, for example, a teapot or a teddy bear.
