How to upgrade your bicycle with components

Bicycles can be very expensive, especially if you want one with all the bells and whistles.

But if there is nothing wrong with your old bike and you just want a better one, there are things you can do to upgrade your bike and make it better. When you get done putting these additions on your bike, you won’t even recognize it and it will cost a lot less than a whole new bike. Most of these additions don’t require any special skills and in most cases, all you will need is a screwdriver and a wrench!

One thing you can replace on your bike that will give it added speed or off-road capabilities are its tires. There are many different types of tires for bikes, be sure to choose those that suit the terrain you use your bike on the most. Most people never replace the tires on their bikes unless they are damaged but bikes need new tires just as much as cars do for safety and performance.

A new seat can give your bike added comfort and there are many different kinds from padded to the new gel seats that mold to your body. The seat is one of the most important parts of the bike and it should be one of the things that is chosen for comfort and not price.

Handle grips are another necessity for comfort when riding your bike and you can replace them easily. Most handle grips simply slip on and off and no hardware is required for them. If you commonly use the bars on your bike to steer instead of the handles, add some bar tape to provide a better grip.

You can easily paint your bike quickly by removing the wheels, seat and handlebars and spray painting the frame. Be sure to use a non-rusting paint and put a good coat of gloss on after the color.

When choosing new parts for your bike, keep weight in mind. The lighter the parts, the better performance you will achieve on your bike.
