How to make an herbal body wrap

No matter how rich or poor they are, most women love beautiful skin, beauty treatments, and being pampered. If you want the royal treatment, but don’t have the royal bankroll, give yourself an herbal spa beauty wrap at home. Mix up a cup of corn oil, half a cup of grapefruit juice, and 2 tsp of dried thyme. Add vitamin E drops, if desired.

Work into thighs, hips, and buttocks, then wrap plastic wrap around the oiled areas. The plastic wrap locks in the heat and allows the oil to warm up and penetrate easier. For even more warmth, lay a heating pad on the area and relax. The wrap can be done on various parts of the body. Work the mixture into arms, belly, even calves, then wrap and relax.

Leave the wrap on for at least 20 minutes. You can remove the heating pad if it gets too warm, and continue on with the treatment, but don’t leave the wrap on for longer than 45 minutes. Wipe off well with a towel, and then shower with warm water.

Different recipes can be used for the herbal oil. Lavender can be added to offer a calming effect, or witch hazel as an astringent, for people who are subject to acne outbreaks. For rough, dry skin, such as on the feet, mix 2 cups of almond oil with 2 cups of yellow flowers from an herb called mullein. Mix in a jar, cover and set aside for 2 weeks. Drain the oil, and rub it into feet, elbows or other dry patches, then wrap. Allow to absorb for 30 minutes.

For a spa hand treatment, a half a cup of lemon juice, freshly squeezed, if possible, one mashed avocado, a half cup of plain yogurt, and petroleum jelly. Mix all but the petroleum jelly, rub on hands and between fingers and leave for 15 minutes. Now rub the petroleum jelly into hands and wrap for 20 minutes, or wear gloves overnight for maximum softness the next morning. Don’t use this mix if there are any cuts or abrasions on the hands.

A facial freshener and skin tightener can be made by peeling a grapefruit, orange, lemon, or lime into thin strips, and set aside. Boil a cup of water and add a vitamin C tablet to the water and pour over the citrus skins. Let the liquid cool and store it in a container, in the refrigerator. When the time to use, spread on the face, then cover with the cold washcloth for 30 minutes. Skin will tighten up, glisten, and feel refreshed.

A full body treatment can be made from a half a cup of finely crushed almonds, 6 tablespoons of oats, 3 tablespoons of honey, 3 teaspoons of brown sugar and a quarter cup of hot water. You can use this all over the body, or target specific areas where there are skin problems. Also, you can use the wrap or apply and leave unwrapped.

Rinse off after 20 minutes, with warm water. Another full body treatment can be made from a quarter ounce of dried sage or a cup and a half of fresh sage leaves, a quarter ounce of dried chamomile, a half cup of witch hazel, and 3 tsp of apple cider vinegar. Rough up the herbs and combine all ingredients in a jar with a lid. Shake well and allow to sit for a week, shaking the mixture a couple of times each day.

After a week strain the mixture several times, and then apply to problem skin areas. Wrap with a warm towel. Remove after 30 minutes. This mixture is an astringent and will relieve dry, itchy skin, smooth out dry patches and leave the skin glistening.
