Although dating is a fun and traditional way to get acquainted with someone, it can also be quite expensive. If you and your date plan on going to out to eat and to a movie, you can count on spending quite a few bucks. While some people can afford to do this, others are limited in their incomes.
Often, people overlook simple, fun, and inexpensive ways to spend time together. Whether you are a teen or an adult, you can plan inexpensive dates that may turn out to be much more fun than you might expect.
One of the first things you need to do is take a look around your community. What resources do you have? Are there public parks that you can visit? If so, pick a beautiful day and pack a picnic lunch. If there are hiking trails, you and your date can take long leisurely walks and spend time talking. You could actually get to know someone a lot easier if you spend time together talking than sitting silently in a movie theater.
If your city has museums, you could invite your date to tour the newest exhibits offered. Once you’re finished, plan on visiting a local coffee shop for a cappuccino and a muffin. Many cafes now have local bands which play on certain evenings. Find out which nights these bands play and invite your date for a cup of coffee and a sandwich. You can sit back in a relaxed atmosphere, listen to the band play, and visit with your new friend.
Keep an eye out for festivals that are coming to town. Pick an afternoon or an evening and stroll through the festival with your date. Take time to admire the various arts and crafts. Offer to buy your date a lemonade and funnel cake, and sit down on a bench to share your treats. You can enjoy people watching with your date as well. Make a game out of it. Try to guess the occupations of individuals as they pass you by.
Even if you aren’t really athletic, you can still find lots of activities to enjoy. Invite your date for a bike ride. If your neighborhood park has bike trails, load your bikes up and spend a day riding and enjoying nature. Make sure you pack some snacks and drinks to take along.
Fishing is a great way to spend an afternoon. Don’t worry if the fish aren’t biting. You don’t even have to own a boat. You can find a creek bank or settle on the shore of a lake and cast your bait. You need to plan on providing everything for your date, however. This shouldn’t cost you much. All you really need is a cane pole, some worms, hooks, and a bucket to put your fish in. Be sure to throw in a couple of chairs. Fishing is a wonderful and relaxing way to watch a sunset together. Just be sure to bring along some insect repellant.
Finally, if you really want to do dinner and a movie, you can attend a matinee. The admission tickets will be somewhat cheaper. You can always search for a movie theater that shows older releases. Often, admission prices to these movies are only one to two dollars a person. If you can’t afford dinner and a movie, plan on going out for coffee and desert after the feature is over.
Once you begin planning a date, there really is no limit to what you can do. If you aren’t sure about all the activities your community has to offer, contact your local chamber of commerce and check the local newspaper. Once you’ve explored some of the options available, you may find a wide variety of choices!
