Honey, Yogurt, and Rosewater Hydrating Mask
4 tablespoons of Honey
2 tablespoons of Whole Milk Plain Yogurt
1 tablespoon of Rosewater
2 to 3 drops of Bitter Orange Essential Oil
Mix honey and yogurt in a small bowl. Add rosewater and essential oil. Stir until smooth. Leave at room temperature or refrigerate for a cool mask, great for using in the summertime.
The combination of honey, yogurt, and rosewater is gentle on your skin and smells delicious. Honey naturally draws moisture from the air onto your skin. The fat in the yogurt is soothing, and contains lactic acid, which helps in exfoliating and polishing the skin. Rosewater is excellent for cleansing, and bitter orange essential oil has antiseptic properties and helps to reduce anxiety, irritability, and stress.
Raspberry Leaf Toner Recipe
An easy way to make a homemade toner is to steep two raspberry leaf teabags in one cup of water for 15 minutes and let cool completely. Raspberry leaves contain astringent properties, which shrink and tighten the top layers of skin.
Step One: Preparation
Gather all supplies necessary for facial treatment. Prepare the hydrating facial mask and toner. Remove hair from the face using a headband or elastic band.
Step Two: Cleanse
The first stage in facial treatment is to cleanse your skin. Using a mild face cleanser, apply to face and neck. Massage your face gently in a circular motion using a soft washcloth or your fingertips. Rinse your face with lukewarm water and pat dry with a clean cotton towel.
Step Three: Steam
Boil a large pot of water. Add the juice of two whole lemons. Remove pot from heat to the counter. Bend over the pot and drape a hand towel over your head to capture the steam. Place your face approximately 12 inches from the water. Use your judgment as to how close you want to get. Stay in this position for about 5 minutes. Rinse with cool water and dry face and neck.
Step Four: Hydrate
Apply the mask to your face using an upward motion. Cover face and neck completely and leave on for 15 minutes. Rinse with lukewarm water and pat face and neck dry.
Step Five: Tone
Apply raspberry leaf toner to several cotton balls and gently wipe face and neck using an upward motion.
Step Six: Moisturize
Slather on your favorite moisturizer while the skin is still damp.
