How to choose a weight loss supplement for women

There are no safe magic pills for weight loss

any effort to shed a dress size or two without seriously endangering your health always include a fair amount of sweating on the treadmill. The good news is that there are plenty of both safe and effective supplements that can make the job easier.

Caffeine may not strike you as a fat loss supplement, but the truth is that it is a potent stimulant that elevates your heart rate and gives a nice kick to your metabolism. The key here is moderation, however. If you’re otherwise healthy, a cup or two of black coffee (no creamer or sugar) before a workout can give you just the kind of pick-me-up you need – and stoke the fat furnace at the same time!

Caffeine pills work just as well, but beware of overdosing or slipping into a bad habit of becoming over-reliant on the caffeine buzz. If you’re obese, have blood pressure issues or have other reasons to be concerned, talk to your doctor beforehand to make sure your healthy initiative doesn’t make a medical condition worse.

Chromium picolinate is a low-key supplement that you may not hear that much about. It’s far from the whiz-bang oomph you get from other products, but it’s a slow, gradual improvement over several months. What it does is make the muscle receptors more sensitive to insulin, which means that less insulin has to be received every time you eat carbohydrates.

Since insulin is one of the prime offenders when it comes to storing body fat, it’s easy to see why less of it floating around in your blood is a good idea.

Fish oil may seem unintuitive. Isn’t the point to eat LESS fat, not more? This is not necessarily the case. In fact, the one way to guarantee that the body stops burning fat is to stop eating fat altogether. Simply put; in order to get the body to burn fat, you must continue feeding it some fat every day even though your diet. The key, of course, is to feed it the RIGHT kind of fat, and that’s where fish oil comes into the picture.

Since the fats found in fish are healthy (Omega 3,6 and 9) actively help the body burn fat and have numerous bonus positives going for them, it’s an excellent supplement. The one caveat here is that you get what you pay for; dirt cheap fish oil may not be of the highest quality, and you don’t want to accidentally get yourself a heaping serving of heavy metals in the morning. Another option is to go with flax oil capsules, which is slightly less potent but has a lower risk of contamination.

On the same note, Conjugated Linoleic Acid (CLA) is a designer fat that makes a direct contribution in speeding up the fat loss. Again, once you can wrap your mind around taking in extra fat in order to burn a net sum of more fat, you can give it a go. Forskolin and Guggulsterones are funny names for two relatively unknown herbs that can help boost the ol’ metabolism in a hurry.

Lastly, be sure to take your regular multivitamin each morning. While not a fat burn supplement per se, vitamin or mineral deficiency can make the process a whole deal more difficult. In other words, this is like making sure the car runs in the first place before worrying about the gas mileage.

As said earlier, you still need to put in the sweat equity yourself, but it can be done. When in doubt, check with your doctor, and never try to take shortcuts. As the Jamba Juice slogan goes: you’re in a marathon, not a sprint – and long-term weight control is achieved through long-term thinking. But there are tools to make it just a little easier, and there’s no shame in giving them a try.

Good luck!
