If the recipe implies the use of any ingredient in the amount of 3/4 cup, you need to know how much it is, and how to measure this amount correctly. To accurately follow the recipe, you should determine the volume of the container, as well as pay attention to the type of product.

What does it mean
Three-quarters of a cup of any ingredient can be measured by eye. If you visually divide the container in half, and each half again, you will get four equal parts. But you need to fill it in so that only one part remains free. However, the capacity varies from manufacturer to manufacturer. Modern versions are produced in a volume of 150-250 ml.
The best solution is to check the weight of the products with the recipe author. But if this is not possible, you need to use the standard volume for measurement as a basis. Most often it is 200 ml, but there are also large options-250 ml each.
How much is it in products?
Depending on what product is used in the recipe, you can determine the desired amount, taking into account the features of measuring weight and volume. It doesn’t matter what you need to measure – bulk products or liquids, you need to focus on volume, not weight.
Sugar
In the kitchen, every housewife has glasses, but not everyone knows their exact capacity. To measure sugar without large errors, you can take a tablespoon. A tablespoon (with a slide) – 20 g, and a teaspoon-5 g. A standard container, filled by¾, holds 133 g of sugar.
Water
The easiest way is to measure the volume of liquids. In the case of water, it will be from 150 ml. If all the ingredients in the recipe are measured in one container, the situation is simplified. No matter what kind of glass is used, the proportions will be observed. For accurate measurement, it is better to purchase a measuring flask with divisions.
Salt
The amount of salt is measured in the same way as sugar. Three-quarters of a standard container contains 7 tablespoons. If the kitchen has scales, it is easier to weigh the salt to keep the proportions. You need to measure 130 grams of salt. Weighing will help you more accurately calculate the amount of product, since salt can be coarse and fine, and the volume of different types of grinding differs significantly.
Flour
A 200-gram container full to the brim contains exactly 130 g of premium wheat flour. ¼ is about 32 grams. The amount should be multiplied by 3. If you use a scale, you need to measure 95-96 grams. It is important to remember that this product is lighter than wholemeal flour.
Volume depends on the size of the glass
For the first time, the authors of the publication “The Book of Delicious and Healthy Food”, which was released in 1938, suggested measuring products with glasses. In those days, they produced glasses with a capacity of 200 ml. The rim-filled glass held 167 ml. For convenience, pour liquid or pour bulk products on the rim, and then remove 1 tablespoon.
If you use a standard container with a volume of 200 ml, then the dimensions will be equal to 150 ml (not to be confused with grams). If the container is larger by 50 ml, then-187 ml.
Visual examples
To better understand how to measure ingredients correctly, it is worth considering visual examples. ¾ cup is:
- flour-95 g;
- sugar – 132 g;
- cocoa – 75 g;
- powdered sugar – 90 g.
Liquids can be dispensed in a measuring container, and bulk materials can be measured out with tablespoons or weighed on a kitchen scale.
Result
Three-fourths of standard glass is 150 ml. But the same volume of different products has different weights. This should be taken into account when cooking.
